The textile industry uses PEG as a matrix to replace water-based emulsified coatings. Low-molecular-weight PEG has better dispersibility, while high-molecular-weight PEG can produce better film-forming properties. In any occasion, coatings with PEG as the base are more water-resistant than those with water as the base, and can improve the gloss of the film and reduce the odor.

PEG and PEG esters as dispersants can be widely used in ordinary PVA emulsified coatings, and high molecular weight PEG is used as an evaporation retarder in coating strippers. Due to its good solubility and lubricity, PEG is widely used in oils. In addition, PEG can also be used in wax paper, ink pad and ball pen ink.
